Waukesha, WI- Dan Peterson, Dispatcher for Waukesha Metro Transit, was selected as a winner in Veolia Transportation's nationwide 300:29:1 safety contest. In 2009, Velolia started the 300:29:1 safety program which suggests for every 300 unsafe acts there are 29 minor accidents which result in 1 severe accident. For the contest Veolia asked for the most creative ways to convey the value of reducing unsafe acts. Peterson, a musician in his spare time, wrote and recorded "300:29:1" which highlighted the importance of safety in the workplace. His entry was 1 of only 12 in the nation that were selected as winners in the competition. These winning pieces will be used in Veolia's safety messages throughout 2010. "I was trying to relay the importance of unsafe acts in the workplace and help motivate fellow employees to be more safety conscience," Peterson said. "We are very proud of Dan's accomplishment and congratulate him on his award. This exemplifies the creativity he brings to his job each day, making our transit system better," stated Andrew Johnson, Deputy Director of Waukesha Metro Transit. The City of Waukesha contracts with Professional Transit Management (PTM) to manage its transit operations function. PTM is a division of Veolia Transportation, a global provider of public transportation services. |
